Merry Christmas!
What a very different Christmas I am having this year. It is actually a somewhat depressing Christmas. Since I only arrived in VA a week ago we did not see the point in putting up a tree or any Christmas decorations. I wish I had now. Marcus and I opted to not buy each other gifts this year because we did so much shopping for the house--new furniture etc. That is perfectly fine with me because I enjoy giving gifts much more than receiving them.
What is making this Christmas so depressing is the lack of children and family in general to spend it with. This is my first time with no children living at home for Christmas--it is sad. I feel like I am missing so much! It is just Marcus and I here; no family or friends to spend the day with. I'm going to try to keep busy by unpacking more boxes and pretending that it is not Christmas. Thank goodness it is raining today and not snowing--that would be even more depressing.
Despite my lack of Christmas cheer, I know I have much to be thankful for this year. Marcus and I are finally living under one roof together, my children, grandchild, siblings, parents, and friends are happy and healthy. That, in itself, is all the Christmas I really need.
